Saw this kid inside Surplus Shop while i was waiting for my turn at one of the fitting rooms. He's prolly looking for his mom who's trying out some clothes too!

My Monday night blooper
Last night around 7pm, i was walking home with a choirmate after our pratice. We haven't gone far away from the company gates when a lady caught up with us and exchanged pleasantries with my choirmate. The lady acknowledged my presence and said "Uy, Tsiki, pumapayat ka yata." To which i replied "talaga? ay salamat!"
I was walking ahead of them and was focused on the traffic light at the nearby intersection, calculating the time when it will turn red so we could cross the street. As we were near the street corner, the lady bid goodbye and walked the other way. We waved her goodbye as well and waited for our turn to cross the street.
A little while later i asked my choirmate, "sino yun?"
;P

Painted!
Yesterday's snaps ;)
I love lavender. So it's no wonder that i had this window painted with that color. This is from the vacant room i previously raved about. Yeah, it's been quite a while and i haven't moved in yet. There are so many repairs to do and some other people's stuff to put away coz this room was used as a stockroom of some sort after the previous occupants vacated the place.
And there's dad placing a plastic screen so i can always have the windows open for sunlight and not worry about the cat getting out through the jalousies.
Meanwhile, my sister Tet tried to paint her toenails pink -for the very first time...
...by herself! And she is so serious about it.
"my hands are small i know but they're not yours they are my own..."
...and my fingernails are painted with a color i can't name. It's brownish from the bottle but turned kinda pinkish at one angle then fleshy at another (i guess it depends on where the light bounces off) with a metallic finish.
The nail polish would not last long though. I work with my hands a lot. I can't be bothered with maintaining paint on my fingernails and worrying about them chipping off coz eventually, they will chip off and get messy. This is one girlie stuff i can live without.

The Notebook
For the longest time, i've been wanting to change my blog template but can't seem to find a design that would reflect my personality. Once in a while, i would add (or remove) a page element, change the colors and fonts, or pick a completely different template depending on how i feel at the moment.
Then i came across this design which reminds me of those spiral-bound notebooks that served as my diary during my student days.
Back in highschool through college, i wrote a lot about what's happening in my life, my thoughts and my feelings. That was also the time when i have written a lot of poems, most about observations around me and, yeah, my thoughts and feelings.
So, i'm trying this one out and getting the "feel" of it. Perhaps it might inspire me to write some more.
But being the unpredictable person this blogger is known for, expect some more changes in the next few weeks.

For Aches and Pains...
(Post backlog)
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is native to India and China. It takes its name from the Sanskrit word stringa-vera, which means “with a body like a horn”, as in antlers. Ginger has been important in Chinese medicine for many centuries, and is mentioned in the writings of Confucius.
Ginger is most commonly known for its effectiveness as a digestive aid. By increasing the production of digestive fluids and saliva, Ginger helps relieve indigestion, gas pains, diarrhea and stomach cramping. Ginger's anti-inflammatory properties help relieve pain and reduce inflammation associated with arthritis, rheumatism and muscle spasms. Ginger's therapeutic properties effectively stimulate circulation of the blood, removing toxins from the body, cleansing the bowels and kidneys, and nourishing the skin.
Now why would i be writing about ginger?
Thursday of last week (Valentine's Day) I was on the phone updating mom of my activities and whatever's new around the household. I was stuck at home that day because the 10-round fun-run during the previous day took its toll on my leg muscles and lower back.
That's when mom told me to prepare a few slices of ginger to boil and sprinkle with muscovado sugar (the measurement varies according to one's taste). Yup, one should drink it like hot tea.
"You'll be running again in no time," she said.
And when i say mothers know best, you know what i mean....

Happy 200th!
It just dawned on me that i am now writing my 200th post. Not that i'm counting... Hehehe!
Meanwhile, it's my mother's birthday yesterday (Happy Birthday Madir!!!). She called a while ago to tell me that she's at the park watching a rock show courtesy of a Filipino radio station based in HK. It was loud, it was fun (according to mom), and best of all... it was for free!
Heck, how come she gets to watch a free rock show and i don't?
Hmmm....
Anyway ma, i hope you had fun and enjoyed your Sunday (free day for most OFW's in HK), after all, it was your birthday yesterday.
Love yah!

Quiz-day Thursday
| You Are Lemon Meringue Pie |
You're the perfect combo of sassy and sweet. You always know how to brighten someone's mood, but you're not overly sappy. In fact, you can be a bit too honest at times. And most people find that refreshing. While you're always true to yourself, you keep things light. That's how people are able to stomach your slightly bitter outlook. Those who like you have well refined tastes. You're complicated - and let's face it - a true enigma. You enjoy defying expectations, and there are many layers to your personality. There's not one easy way to define you. |

Run for money?
Today at work, an announcement was posted which read:
Ok.
Then there was also an announcement that there'll be a "fun-run" to be held at the company grounds. The first cluster who has all 15 members to finish 10 rounds (approx 5km) gets to win a cash prize of... well i'm not sure about the amount. But with or without the cash prize, i'm interested to join.
I'm more interested in burning fat off my body.
The cash is just an additional motivation factor.
;)
Let's all wear red for Sec. FTD's birthday tomorrow.

of birthdays, getting older, and weddings
(just another random rambling)
- - -
It's Dheys' birthday today. Haven't seen her for years but we keep in touch through YM and SMS.
Today i caught her online and sent her a greeting:
Oi, happy birthday!! Painom ka naman!
To which she replied:
Di na uso yun. Matanda na tayo para sa ganyan.
(insert crickets chirping sound effects here)
I was just kidding her, of course! And besides, I'm kinda leaning away from the alcoholic stuff myself, except for the occasional shot of red wine (a half-finished bottle of which is still in the fridge for almost a month now).
But i do want to get out with her sometime (if our schedules allow it) and just get together with Jhie as well. I know we're not the college "rakistas" anymore but i miss being with my friends and having fun.
Maybe someday...
In the meantime, have a Happy Birthday my friend!
- - - - -
Meanwhile, i had the chance to watch 27 Dresses after work with my new fitness buddy Demet (Manny had been out of shape to go "gymming" since December). Katherine Heigl was stunning and she did justice to the part.
Well i won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet (as if i'm not the last one to see it! hehehe!). But i say it's entertaining (all movies should, right?), meaning it's not boring. It's a story that most of us can relate to.
- - - - -
Tomorrow is aerobics day. On my 3rd day and loving it!
- - - - -
We take care of our loved ones and do stuff to make them happy, we take care of business, work, and everything else in between. But at the end of the day we should also remember to take care of ourselves and do the things that make us happy.

So far so good!
I'm NOT a morning person. Really. Although sometimes, i could get up as early as 4:30 if it's really, really needed --like if there's an out of town assignment and we're catching up with the trip schedules.
I would try time and again, month after month to have a "full time service" mark in my MRA (monthly report of attendance) and make it to the office at least by 9am, but there were days when i'd punch in past the 9:30am grace period. It's a bad case of slacking off due to lack of motivation and other stuff.
One by one, i tried to address the issues that revolve around the situation. I challenged myself to come to work not later than 9am. In fact, since the start of this month, i've been punching in around 7:30 - 7:45am, thus giving me the opportunity to attend the aerobics sessions at 8am. The workout perks me up and that results in more work done at the office. Sweet!
By 5:30pm, i'm out of the office wearing more comfortable clothes and my running shoes. My trip home takes two jeepney rides, but lately i've been skipping the second ride to walk the rest of the way home. The walk takes only 7 minutes if done briskly, and 10 minutes if done leisurely. Either way, it's healthy and it saves me money!
I just hope i could maintain this early-bird streak so i could continually reap the health benefits i'm getting now.
'Til next week then!
Have a happy weekend everyone!

Quiz-day Thursday
| You Are Destined to Be Thin |
Even if you aren't thin right now, you have great habits that will ensure you're thin for most of your life. You have a great relationship with food and eating. Don't change a thing. |
| You're Pretty Fit |
You do your best to work out, but you probably don't do it as much as you like. Maybe you need to do mini-workouts throughout the day to fit in exercise... Or maybe you need a whole new activity to motivate you. |
Are You a Fit Girl?
- - - - -
Day 2 of my "aerobics session comeback" and it's been a fun solution to my earlier dilemma. It may not give me the results i need in just a month but it's still better than no exercise at all! I've also returned to my weekend jog with auntie and uncle, and last Saturday was pretty much challenging.
I just hope i could finally fit into that dress next month!

Ash Wednesday....
We rise again from ashes,
from the good we've failed to do.
We rise again from ashes,
to create ourselves anew.
If all our world is ashes,
then must our lives be true.
An offering of ashes,
an offering to you.
We offer you our failures,
we offer you attempts.
The gifts not fully given,
the dreams not fully dreamt.
Give our stumblings direction,
give our visions wider view.
An offering of ashes,
an offering to you....
- - -
somehow, this song we sang during the mass got stuck in my head. i was singing it the whole day. Talk about LSS!

The Journey...
... during my "post-holiday" holiday!
Manila - Iloilo - Kalibo, Aklan - San Jose, Antique - Hamtic, Antique - Caticlan, Aklan - Roxas, Mindoro - Calapan, Mindoro - Batangas - Manila
(air, land and sea trip!)
I left Manila on a Friday at 5:10am, with ate Eva. Touchdown at Iloilo International Airport half an hour later. A 20-minute cab ride to the bus/van terminal and we were off to Kalibo, Aklan - the main destination for this journey - for the Ati-atihan Festival.
Came Monday morning, I split up with ate Eva and continued to travel down south to Antique for a 3-day visit to my relatives (or what ate E coined as my "tour of duty").
When my 3-day tour of duty was completed, i decided to give RORO (Roll On Roll Off) a try. At 7am, I boarded a bus from Hamtic and arrived at Caticlan by lunchtime. From there, it was a 6-hour boat ride bound for Roxas in Mindoro. I then boarded the same bus again headed up north for Calapan. I took another boat ride headed towards Batangas port then finally, another bus ride brought me to the terminal in Manila where i was met by my dad and uncle.
Total travel time by RORO was 19 hours. It could be shorter depending on which boat you boarded. In my case, i got on the slow boat from Caticlan to Roxas. Plus, it was a slightly rough ride. Talk about big waves! I slept pretty much the whole day trip and was awake the rest of the journey, particularly during the boat ride from Calapan to Batangas which took only two hours in the dark of night.
It was also my first time to get sea sick. I've traveled by boat before but it never bothered me. This time, it did. Maybe because i was traveling alone this time. So if you wanna try the RORO, better go with a companion or your barkada (group of friends). And be sure to take your Bonamine.
;)

Fitting in...
We were told yesterday after the choir practice that we'll be wearing our gala dress on St. Lazarus' Feast Day, which is about a month from now. All of us were shocked. Naye, horrified was the best word to describe the choir's reaction to the news. And mine was the most violent. Hehehe!
Why?
Because it doesn't fit me anymore. Apparently, i started to gain weight last year after our concert in December'06. Although i was still able to wear it during last year's feast day, i had difficulty singing during the eucharistic celebration because the blouse had become uncomfortably tight. And the dress didn't have any allowance for repairs.
But the choirmaster insisted that we wear the dress next month.
Oh, heck! I have about a month to trim down.
Must.do.something.

I'm still about to compose my post about the recent festival. I took a lot of pics and i'm now having a hard time choosing which ones to include in the post.
Sorry for the delay.

Camouflage...
Where's the cat?
;)

She greets me at the door when i come home from work. Then comes up with me to the bedroom and waits until i get dressed from work clothes to my pj's. I pick up a book to read, sit on the mattress, cross my legs and lean on the headboard. Slowly, she comes closer, lays her head on my thigh, then starts purring steadily... peaceful and contented till she falls asleep.

Kin
we could've shared more laughs,
but time didn't allow it.
we pass by each other for the last three days
exchanging smiles and nods...
but you only spoke to me,
in between my sips of gin and your shots of rhum
on the night before i left.
at least, that's a start.
maybe next time we'd talk more
when i get back,
if you're still there.

Touchdown!
Yup! I'm back!
Back to the hustle and bustle of city life. I'm still on leave at work today, prepping myself up for next week's activities and organizing my thoughts for my post on my previous trip!
So, hang in there!
And have a great Friday!

Starting tomorrow, this blog will have no new posts. Because by then, i've already boarded a plane that would bring me to Kalibo, Aklan!
But y'all don't have to worry. I'll be back in a couple of days. You don't have to miss me too much. Heehee!

Vulnerability
You are the one kind of person
i've tried so hard to avoid.
And yet,
you have become an obssession,
a preoccupation.
an addiction -
something that's not good for me,
but i just can't leave it alone.

Suddenly....
the sound of your name feels so unfamiliar...
and the times we shared together
felt like a thousand years ago.
Just when i thought being apart from you
would be like a slow and painful death...
I am still here,
as if you never left...
coz now it feels like you never really came.

Tuesday to Friday
Warning: Just some random blabberings. This might bore some of you. Definitely not for those who expect a fast-paced, jampacked post. Hehehe! Don't tell me i didn't warn you. ;P
So i was late on Monday. And i was a victim of what we call "na-Lunesan." So the rest of the week, my attendance was not something i'm proud of (the only day i completed my 8-hour shift was on Wednesday). Yeah, i realize that it's up to me to do something about it. Yup, there's always another week. Always another Monday. ;)
= = =
People have started telling me i got skinnier. Well, that's as far as my face is concerned, i guess. But then maybe i did got a bit skinnier. Just a bit. Hehehe! Remember when i was stressed out during the preparations for Christmas parties and presentations? And then eventually i got sick and was limited to the confines of our house on Christmas Day. And when i'm sick, my appetite suffers. Come New Year's Day, i was A-OK again but my present preoccupation made me stay up till the early hours of morn while i haven't got back to eating three full meals a day.
So there. Less sleep + less food = skinnier me.
I know it's not healthy. But it's just a phase.
= = =
This week at work was sloooooow paced. Not much activity yet although i have some projects in mind. But my body is still in hibernate mode. Or should i say Holiday mode because i haven't got the chance to really enjoy the holiday season.
But since the stars are properly aligned once again, i was at the right place at the right time, when ate Eva asked if i wanna go with her to Kalibo in Aklan for the Ati-Atihan Festival. Of course i said YES! Ate Eva and i had travelled together a couple of times already and we had a blast! Once again, ang mga dalagang gala are back on track!
Plane tickets are on the way. Things are yet to be packed. Will be filing my LOA, leave some instructions at the office and call the cousins in Antique coz i'm planning to have a side-trip there as well coz i miss the last time i spent my two-week summer vacation in my mother's hometown.
I'm so excited!
Stay tuned!

Manic Monday
Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream
But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made
It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday
I was just in the middle of a dream

It was indeed! And to think it's the first Monday of the year.
I woke up with just enough time to dress up and go. I was even singing Manic Monday while getting dressed. But the traffic made it impossible for me to catch up and beat the bundy clock.
So i punched in at 8:02am. Two minutes late. On a Monday. The first working week of the year.
I'll never sing that song on a Monday, ever again.
;P

Saturdate (Saturday Date)
Pardon me. I'm a little lazy to put more words in this post or to compose a more well thought-of sentence. So here goes.....
It's the first Saturday of the month. And like other first Saturdays, the St. Lazarus Choir was scheduled to sing in the anticipated mass. But this day was kinda special because it's the first Saturday of 2008!
What made it more special is that we have a new uniform.
Ponkan na Ponkan!
Never thought orange would look good on me.
hehehe!
Another special reason is that i was out on a date. Well, sort of. It's not one of those formal dates though. But hey, it was nevertheless a pleasant time sharing laughs and laid back conversation over dinner (never mind that it was fast food).
So, there it was. Pardon me if i couldn't put more words here. I'm still trying to quiet down this giddy, giggly high school girl in me.

Baby Blue
I was an hour late and he was not smiling when he saw me. I wanted to hug him right then and there as an act of apology and to comfort him but i was afraid he might reject me. So i just gave him a shy smile and leaned towards him to whisper a little "sorry i'm late." I took his hand and told him "let's go to church, hear the mass, then i'll explain later" then flashed him another "apologetic" smile.
He stood up and forced a smile. It made me feel more guilty. Note to self, be early next time. He was silent while we walked towards the church and i couldn't bear it.
"Come on, give me a smile. You look more handsome when you smile."
He turned to me and flashed me those pearly whites. This time, it wasn't forced. I guess he couldn't stay mad at me for long.
"I love it when you smile like that. You know very well i fell for that smile."
He took my hand... gave it a gentle squeeze... and flashed me the sweetest smile I've ever seen.

Terms of Endearment
Pie...
because "baby" is too common
like "honey" or "hon."
"sweetheart" sounds too oldies.
"darling" doesn't quite fit.
couldn't think of any more unique ones,
so, yeah, that's it.

Girl part2
"Where's the party?" they asked me.
'Twas a Friday and i was all dressed up.
"Got a date?" was another question
"Nope!" i said without hesitation
Let me refresh your memory with this

Yeah, i'm considered one of them boys. I don't know why, but it comes naturally to me.

Had a chat with another friend of mine on New Year's Day. Had a blast actually -- seeing him on webcam, still his funny and straightforward self, which i love most about him. We were dishing out inside jokes and funny antics across the miles. Two friends sharing laughs, nevermind that it's 3am in his part of the world (what a nice way to start the year, eh?).
And then he became serious for a moment and expressed regret over being far away and not having the chance to really hang out. He said i am a perfect buddy and smiled a little smile. A smile which i know came from the heart of a really good friend.
Dude, wala sa distance ang pagkakaibigan. No matter how far your friends are, as long as you hold them in your heart, they will never be too far away.
And thank you for seeing me as a perfect buddy.
;)
never be the first to break a family tradition
Every New Year's Eve, when the clock strikes midnight, my aunt tosses out a lot of coins while we all gather round to catch them. In the midst of all the noise and revelry outside, we were making our own noises of cheers and shouts, and of course, the sound of coins we've gathered and are now shaken inside our pockets for good luck!

Niños Inocentes
from Wikipedia:
Niños Inocentes is commemorated on December 28 as Holy Innocents' Day or Childermas in other countries. The innocents referred to are the children who are massacred by order of Herod who was seeking the death of the newborn Messiah.
/
I've been chatting with this guy over YM for a couple of days already and we finally agreed to meet up today at the mall. He said he was 27 years old. I'm 28. Okay, the one year difference is not a big deal.
So when i saw him, i told myself, "not bad." He was 5'9" tall, fair skinned, and good-looking! I won't go into details on how the meet-up went. But generally, it was OK.
Later at home, we were still chatting online. However, he confessed that his age was younger than what he told me earlier. Waaay younger.
Aww shucks! So that explains why i have observed some manifestations, but i chose to ignore it.
/
Don't know why i'm trying to connect Niños Inocentes with the earlier meet-up. I've just remembered something that the older folks used to say about Niños Inocentes being like April Fools' Day. And then i found this site, but i don't think it's of much help.
/
Just wondering..... who's the innocent here and who got "massacred."

Ready, Willing and Able!
I am ready for love
Why are you hiding from me
I'd quickly give my freedom
To be held in your captivity
I am ready for love
All of the joy and the pain
And all the time that it takes
Just to stay in your good grace
Lately I've been thinking
Maybe you're not ready for me
Maybe you think I need to learn maturity
They say watch what you ask for
Cause you might receive
But if you ask me tomorrow
I'll say the same thing
I am ready for love
Would you please lend me your ear?
I promise I won't complain
I just need you to acknowledge I am here
If you give me half a chance
I'll prove this to you
I will be patient, kind, faithful and true
To a man who loves music
A man who loves art
Respect's the spirit world
And thinks with his heart
I am ready for love
If you'll take me in your hands
I will learn what you teach
And do the best that I can
I am ready for love
Here with an offering of
My voice
My Eyes
My soul
My mind
Tell me what is enough
To prove I am ready for love
I am ready

Merry Christmas!
Maligayang Pasko - in Tagalog, my native tongue
Feliz Navidad - in Spanish
Feliz Natal - in Portugese
Buone Feste Natalizie - in Italian
Frohliche Weihnachten - in German
Joyeux Noel - in French
= = =
I'm still down with the cold, double-teamed with cough. But Christmas is Christmas! Food is overflowing and relatives are here. I just had to greet them at a certain distance this time (so as not to spread my virus). Too bad i can't mingle with them. My virus is pretty tough! But i still have time to rest tomorrow as i have scheduled another LOA.
My uncles and cousins are having fun right now, drinking and videoke-singing. Guess i just have to enjoy listening to them as one of my uncles make fun of the song lyrics (he's great at improv!).
= = =
Here's one nice vid i found for this season.

Have a great Christmas everyone!

Thank You!
Nobody knows how our world works. It's a matter of time when you truly appreciate a person. A matter of fate: where the right people are at the right place & at the right time.
Nobody understands how the universe conspired for us to meet the people we'll love or have connections with.
But then, it just happens, you click and the story begins.
To you, dear friend, thank you for being part of my story.
You Can't Have It All!
This year's lantern did not win any prize.
And as for our production number, we got 2nd prize. Our Cluster usually bags the top prize. But this time, we were second best out of three entries.
Yes, i am very much disappointed. The turnout of events was not worth the sacrifices i made.
But then, yeah, one can't have it all.
Screw them.

Bureau Christmas Party
It's my 5th Christmas Party with the Bureau, and i'm getting a little nostalgic.
I remember my first Christmas with them, when i was a newbie. I entered the government service in November, and in a few days i've already noticed that the office has different groups (factions may be the most suitable word). But hey, wala namang perfect na organization diba?
Every office has its ups and downs. But when December comes, people here set aside their differences to work together for the season's activities (the annual lantern parade, the production numbers/performances for the agency-wide Christmas party and competitions). I don't care if they're just being "plastic" to one another. All i care about is that even if we have our differences (and some quarrels), we still try to tolerate each other for the sake of Christmas and get together like one big family. Call me naive, but that's just how i see things. I always try to focus on what is good.
In this year's Christmas Party, they gave me the heads up for the program and games. I look at each happy face. I thank God for moments like this. The Bureau has had its changes in personnel lineup (some had been called back by The Big Boss Up There, while some moved to other offices and some others were already retirees), but nevertheless, we are still one big family celebrating the joyous season.
Merry Christmas, HHRDB!
"one step closer to the edge, and i'm about to break!"
I was supposed to be on leave today. But i still went to work. I had my LOA scheduled earlier but now that the party is in two days, i'm up to my neck with activities.
The day started very early for me. Sang in the dawn mass at 5:00 am. Cold caught me already. Then i had to learn the moves that i would be teaching my cluster mates for the production number we'll be performing for the Christmas party in two days. And i'm still about to come up with a program for tomorrow's Bureau Christmas Party.
Call time for the practice was 10:00AM. People arrived a couple of hours later. Waaay later! And yet what we're practicing is supposed to be an entry for a competition.
Let this be the last time things like these happen. I think i've done enough sacrifices already.

Cold Case
Feeling extremely thirsty even after having gulped almost a liter of water. My throat feels parched still. Voice getting hoarse. Signs that i'm going down with a cold. Remind myself to take extra doses of vitamin C.
Can't get sick now. There are things to do: sing in the Misa de Gallo (dawn mass), practice for the DOH Christmas party presentation, plan the program for the Bureau Christmas party.
*sigh*
It's always been like this--getting sick during the Christmas season. This should be the time when work is not hectic and people shop for gifts, but it's the opposite for me. I couldn't squeeze gift shopping in my tight schedule. Rehearsals for production numbers take most of my time after office hours. But in the previous years, i was still able to push through things.
my one minute of fame during last year's Christmas presentation.
partida, may sipon pa ako nyan! hehehe!
I hope i could still survive the Christmas rush this year.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!

this is how we do it
Meanwhile, this year's lantern was conceptualized by another colleague whose forte is with native materials. It's less colorful than our previous lanterns, but it's got a class of its own.
Awarding of winners is on Friday, so keep tuned in!
you gotta be this lucky...
Price Tag: US$46 (roughly Php 1,900++)
The initial reaction was: "Whaat! Should i've known that there's a package coming, I never would've bought those shoes that cost me almost two thousand freaking pesos!"
But when the shock wore off, I had a grin on my face and told myself, "I only wanted one. Now i got two pairs of running shoes!"
There's nothing better than this.
;)
walking by myself from the office
7:30 PM
Passed by the chapel but its huge doors were already closed. So i just uttered my thanksgiving prayer while i walked towards the covered walkway near Finance Building. The leaves of the trees were rustling and i felt the cool December wind blowing when i reached the open space of the compound. I closed my eyes for a while and inhaled deeply, feeling the wind on my face. I thank God for moments like that.
Out on the street, past the intersection, towards the other streetcorner where fruit vendors were lined up beside one another. My nose was pleasantly bombarded y the smell of mandarin oranges. I would've bought some to bring home but my hands were already full.
Colorful lanterns were hung everywhere. Christmas lights dance before my very eyes to the tune of "Jingle Bells". Loudspeakers in front of the beauty parlors fill my ears with Christmas songs. I smiled a little smile. But it was my heart that smiled the widest.
The night was brighter. And despite the cold weather, I have this warm feeling inside me that makes me feel good. It's telling me that things are gonna get better. I was happy.
I never noticed these things before when i walked these streets with somebody. And during the first few weeks when i had no choice but to walk by myself, i was always afraid and in tears. But lately, i'm getting the hang of it.
The night was brighter. The sounds were clearer. The mood was lighter. Everywhere i turn, the things i see make me thank God for the small but meaningful things around me.
Every smile i see was greeted back with a smile. But it was my heart that smiled the widest.

accomplishment
lots of things can change in a matter of seven days
It's good to be back home!
I can see familiar faces as i got my luggage from the taxi and dragged myself to the gate of our compound.
But wait... it's the same house, but it feels different.
Perhaps because it was tidier than when i left it?
Or because it was brighter then usual?
It's still the same house.
Perhaps i just got used to living by myself in my hotel room for a week, with its dim lighting, continuous flow of water, airconditioning, no pollution (i hate cigarette smoke!), no dishes to wash, no laundry.
I went outside to see children have grown so fast! In a week's time! Gee, i spent seven days cooped up inside the hotel for a training and.... i missed out on a lot of things!
in the blink of an eye....
....someone, somewhere celebrates his/her birthday
....someone is mending a broken heart
....someone is forced to "grow up" fast and leave childish things behind.
Seven days felt like seven years already.
I'm glad to be back home.

can u tell me again why i'm here?
First day of class for the Project Development & Management Course for Local Health Implementors.
Is it just me or am i really not supposed to be here?
1. All of the participants are from the Local Government Units of Oriental Mindoro except me (and two other colleagues from the Central Office)
2. Most of them are doctors, budget officers, BAC officers, etc from their respective units. In short, the course is tailor-made for them.
3. I was informed that i should attend this today, but the rest were already in the venue since yesterday.
4. I get the feeling that i'm gonna be a filler again. Like last time.
But then...
1. As i have said, it's a good excuse to get out of the office.
2. This will be useful someday.
3. Not everybody gets this kind of opportunity to be sent to a training of this kind even if i'm just a "filler."
So, might as well, take in whatever learning there is to absorb from this course and have fun!

we all have to go through bad days but hey, you can't have everything
updates, updates.
yeah, it's been a while since my last post.
i was supposed to be at Puerto Galera a couple of weeks ago but i backed out at the last minute because i needed to wallow again in my "miserable ex-girlfriend who got dumped twice and i really need to hide in my shell" mode. I was even about to do something really stupid that i would regret later on, but i was talked out of it by a very good pal. And the rest, so they say, is history.
= = =
Finally!
Done with grieving. Dealt with denial. Here comes acceptance and a newfound confidence.
And happier days....
and opportunities...
and lots of good stuff i have denied/deprived myself of in one way or another because i have been obsessing over something that i'm not supposed to have right now.
I'm at a stage i would call re-focusing.
Getting my feet back to the road i once walked on before i got sidetracked by some of this life's distractions.
= = =
Part of this re-focusing thingy is attending a one-week course on Project Development and Management starting tomorrow.
It's time once again to absorb some new learning experiences. Plus, it's another excuse to get out of the office!
= = =
*sigh*
the worst is over.
the rainclouds gave way to sunshine.
the flowers seem to be more colorful these days.
and i'm having this warm feeling inside that makes the cold December nights a little more bearable.
= = =
As always, I'm thankful and will always be grateful that someone up there loves me still.
May we always remember to count our blessings no matter how difficult these times may be.
Cheers!

It's good for you!
It's good to be back to blogging and writing about happy things again as i had been sucked by the "blue bug" and couldn't get out of the "black hole" for a couple of weeks. Good thing there are people i call friends who helped me snap out of it and pulled me out.
Anyway, here's a fresh way start the month with.
Have you had your veggies today?
